Laura Benanti, born as Laura Ilene Vidnovic on July 15, 1979, is an American actress and singer celebrated for her work on Broadway, television, and in concert. She made her Broadway debut at 18 as Maria in The Sound of Music.Benanti won a Tony Award for her performance as Louise in Gypsy (2008) and has been nominated several times for other musicals including Into the Woods and She Loves Me. Beyond the stage, she appears on TV (e.g. Supergirl, Younger) and has released a self-titled album.
