She starred in four flicks by director Rainer Werner Fassbinder (The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, Jail Bait, Effi Briest, and In a Year of 13 Moons). In A Man Called Eva (1984), she went full beast mode playin’ a bearded film director based on the late Fassbinder himself.She also popped off in two Werner Herzog joints, her former boo. They had a daughter, Hanna Mattes, in 1980. Eva showed up in Germany, Pale Mother and played Sasha Fillipov’s mom in Enemy at the Gates. In German-speaking spots, she’s iconic as Klara Blum in the Tatort TV series.
